The Director Project was designed to help increase the number of African-American Board members on Fortune 500 companies.
The number of African-American Board members has remained flat for the last 5 years and without intervention, the numbers will stay relatively flat.
Decisions made at Board levels have far-reaching impact. Additionally, diverse boardrooms deliver results —including enhanced financial performance. So we must address this underrepresentation.
Unless we make improvements in diversifying Boards and companies’ Boards begin to reflect their shareholders, markets and employees, companies will fail to reach maximum potential.
